Gina Ferguson: Software Engineer

Professional Life

I am an experienced QA Engineer who has spent over six years in the tech industry, with a strong foundation in manual testing of all types. I've previously held the position of QA Engineer, QA Tester, Tech Team Lead (& more!) at Mercari US. Over the course of my career, I steadily advanced from a tier 1 CX agent to ultimately becoming a CX Team Lead before landing in QA. My strong background in customer service + support makes me a great eye for testing with a customer lens.

I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Portland State University in Portland, OR. My minor will be a GIS focus, using my technical and programming skills to apply to GIS analytics/data. I am proud to share that I have a cumulative GPA of 3.6. My target graduation date is Spring 2028.

At PSU, I have gratefully been apart of the SPARK and also DISC cohorts. Both targeted underrepresented STEM majors and offer extra support and guidance in either the semiconductor or other industry areas. I am extremely grateful for my mentors in both programs.

UPDATE SUMMER 2026:

I was privilaged to work in the Teuscher Lab for 10 weeks this summer for the Intel REU program. My semiconductor-related project will be released on here shortly.

My professional passion is centered around leveraging my QA expertise to ensure that technology is accessible for everyone. I am a constant and enthusiastic learner, always exploring new tools and techniques, and I am committed to collaborating with teams to excel in the ever-evolving tech industry.

Who am I otherwise?

I love many genres of music (electronic, classical, new beat, EBM, techno, house, and more!) and have played music live a few times myself. I have always been an avid music lover ever since I was a kid making mixtapes, listening to Casey Casum & Rick Dees' radio shows.
